How tall is a ST225/90D16 tire?

A ST225/90D16 has a nominal overall diameter of 31.94 inches (811 mm), calculated as the 16-inch wheel plus two sidewalls. This is the unloaded figure — a fitted tire sits fractionally shorter under the weight of the vehicle.

What wheel size does a ST225/90D16 tire fit?

A ST225/90D16 fits a wheel of 16 inches in diameter. The wheel also has to be within the rim width range the manufacturer publishes for this size, which is printed in the tire's spec sheet.

What do the numbers in ST225/90D16 mean?

225 is the section width in millimetres. 90 is the aspect ratio — the sidewall is 90% of the width, so 202.5 mm here. D marks the construction (bias-ply (diagonal)). 16 is the wheel diameter in inches.

Is ST225/90D16 a radial tire?

No. The "D" in ST225/90D16 marks bias-ply (diagonal) construction, not radial. Radial and bias-ply tires should not be mixed on the same axle.
